Yes, That’s The Grind!

Monday, November 29th, 2010

Dangerously Beautiful is showing up everywhere lately.  Remember the Dondria video, Rasheeda video, pics of Goapelle, feature in 21-7 Magazine, and  recently on the reality show School Pride on NBC.  I don’t know about you, but I have to say that we have some dedicated fans here. You guys ROCK!!!

DB is featured at the end of the show, but I can’t think of a better reason for someone to wear the Grind shirt than this one.  The students of Los Angeles Center For Enriched Studies worked very hard to get their school in shape. I respect your Mind and Grind! Check out their story and pick up a Grind shirt if you’re really out there grinding.

Flashback Friday-This Is How We Do It

Friday, November 26th, 2010

Now, I know you all remember this song. This was the “Jam” for sure. I know all the lyrics and still like to get up and dance when I hear it come on. It has to have the lamest rap line that I’ve ever heard, but everyone knows it. “The hood’s been good to me ever since I was a lower-case G, but now I’m a big G, the girls see I got the money, hundred dollar bills ya’ll” Oh how I loved the ’90s.

Unstoppable

Wednesday, November 24th, 2010

I had the pleasure of seeing this film yesterday for only $5.  Gotta love $5 Tuesdays!  I should have every Tuesday off just to go to the movies!  Anyhow, this is definitely a must see.  And I’m not just saying that because my favorite actor, Denzel Washington, stars in the film.  I’m more of romantic comedy kind of girl, but this movie had my attention from the beginning. It reminded me a bit of Speed but with a big ass combustible train. Collisions, explosions, and nail biting tension makes this movie a thriller. This was such a great 100 minutes thrill ride, that we finished all our popcorn!  The only bad thing about the film, is there isn’t a good time to go to the bathroom, so go before it starts!

The Red Cups Are Back!

Monday, November 22nd, 2010

I know that it’s over 80 degrees here in Miami, but it’s beginning to feel  a lot like Christmas!  The Starbucks red cups are back!!!  That means all of my favorite holiday flavors are here too!  The Peppermint Mocha was always my holiday staple, but I gave the Peppermint White Chocolate Mocha and Eggnog latte a try last year and they are equally as nice.  Watch out for that Caramel Brulee Late.  I just love the holidays!

Flashback Friday-Fruitopia

Friday, November 19th, 2010

I was soo addicted to this beverage.  Do you remember drinking The Grape Beyond or Strawberry Passion Awareness?  Good stuff.  This was the best thing Coca Cola ever did in my opinion. I remember my mom sending them to me in my care packages when I went away to college!  I can’t believe they stop selling in the United States (only McDonald’s has it on tap; not the same). Watch out Canada.  When I visit, I am going to take as much as I can.  Do you remember drinking Fruitopia?

Sweet Potato Pie

Thursday, November 18th, 2010

Thanksgiving is next week and I can’t wait to stuff my face with all the delicious food! But my favorite part of course is dessert.  I am having tons of family over this year, so there will be an assortment of desserts, but my favorite by far will be sweet potato pie.  I know the American tradition may be pumpkin pie, but to a southerner, there isn’t an comparison to sweet potato!  I mean I’ll eat a slice of pumpkin pie, because I love sweets, but it just reminds me of cinnamon.  Sweet Potato pie has the delicious combination of sweet potato, cinnamon, nutmeg, and just yummy!  I can’t wait.  What’s your favorite Thanksgiving dessert?
