Hooligans In Wondaland
I had the best time last night. Words really can’t describe the feeling and emotions that Janelle Monae and Bruno Mars provided last night. Simply amazing. I won’t talk about the opening act, because there really wasn’t anything good to say about them. But I wasn’t there to see them anyhow so no worries, I knew I was going to have a great time.
Janelle was up first and she had a string quartet, bass player, guitar player (he either had a perm or was wearing a wig), drummer (he was extra awesome), bongo player, the brass, two backup singers, and 2 dancers. I already knew I was in for a treat. Real instruments!!!! Oh how I love those with real musical talent! She blew me away with incredible vocal skills from the start. Her voice was just so pure and electrifying that I had goose bumps instantaneously! She started the set with Faster, slowed down to one of my all time favs Charlie Chaplin’s Smile, sped it up with my honey’s favorite Cold War and ended with my Monae favorite Tightrope. Talk about and awesome performance. Visually, musically, and emotionally!
But there was MORE!!!
My Hawaiian cutie, Bruno Mars was next. More musicians followed and there he was with his pastel green guitar waiting to serenade me! I loved his album and I’ve been waiting to hear him perform my favorites live. What a great experience. Sorry there aren’t tons of pictures, but I was just enjoying the moment. He did just about all of my favorites including Runaway, The Other Side, Lazy Song, Marry You, and Grenade. But he ended the set with my ultimate fav Just the Way You Are. Of course I had be mushy and sing it to my honey.
I temporarily lost voice from such a great show. Catch this duo whenever possible. You won’t be disappointed!
